Nubians Now
It took this Nubian youth four years to receive his National ID card. He first went in for vetting in 1992, but didn't receive his ID card until 1996. Year after year he was told that the card would be issued and that he would have to wait. During the four years he was waiting for his ID, he lost out of a large number of opportunities. He couldn't go to school or find work that paid well. Like many Nubians he was limited to working petty jobs inside Kibera.
