Nubians Now
Rulings by the government after Kenya's independence in 1963, changed Kibera's status into an 'unauthorized settlement', rendering the inhabitants of Kibera, including the Nubians, as squatters even though the Nubians were living in Kibera long before anyone else. A Nubian Elder sits in the front room of his family's home in Kibera. His family has lived in Kibera since before WWI.
